CLASS GUIDE
Not sure about where you fit? Below you’ll find an eligibility guide for all classes and divisions offered by NBCRA for the 2025 show season.
Eligibility is effective January 1st of the current year. If you earn or age out of a division during the year, you are able to stay in that division for the remainder of the season.
REINING CLASS ELIGIBILITY

Open to any horse/rider combination with a valid NRHA Professional, Non Pro, or Youth membership where the horse has won less than $25,000 in NRHA lifetime earnings.
Riders competing in the Non Pro class must be eligible for NRHA Non Pro status and abide by the ownership restrictions outlined in the NRHA Handbook.

Open to any horse/rider combination with a valid NRHA Professional, Non Pro, or Youth membership where the horse has won less than $5000 in NRHA lifetime earnings.

Open to any rider with a valid NRHA competition membership and less than $7500 earned during the previous calendar year.

Exhibitors may show a horse without the Non Pro ownership restrictions as outlined in the NRHA Handbook.

Any competitor with a valid NRHA Youth membership that is 13 years old or younger as of January 1st of the current year.
Riders must abide by the ownership restrictions outlined in the NRHA Handbook.

Open to any competitor who holds a valid NRHA Non Pro membership.

Any competitor with a valid NRHA Youth membership that is 18 years old or younger as of January 1st of the current year.
Exhibitors may show a horse without the Youth ownership restrictions as outlined in the NRHA Handbook.

Open to any horse in their 4, 5, 6, or 7 year-old year with any rider holding a valid NRHA competition membership. Horses must show one handed in any legal shank bit.
Riders competing in the Non Pro class must have a valid NRHA Non Pro membership and abide by the ownership restrictions outlined in the NRHA Handbook.

Open to any horse with less than $500 earned in reining. Horses may be shown one or two handed in any legal bit.
Pattern must be completed as written (no modifications).

Open to any rider that meets the following conditions:
Has less than $100.00 in reining earnings
Eligible for NRHA Non Pro status
Has not previously been year end champion for Green As Grass or Green Rider
19 & over: Has less than 2 years of reining show experience
18 & under: Has less than 3 years of reining show experience
Pattern will require four spins (new for 2025) and riders may choose between simple or flying lead changes with no penalty. Horses may be shown one or two handed in any legal bit.

Open to any rider with less than $500.00 earned in reining. Rider must be eligible for NRHA Non Pro status. Horses may be shown one or two handed in any legal bit.

Ranch division eligibility

Any horse/rider combination. Junior horses (5 and younger) may be shown two handed in a bosal or snaffle bit, senior horses (6 and older) must be shown one handed in any AQHA legal shank bit.

Any horse/rider combination where the exhibitor is eligible for Non Pro/Amateur status (does not receive compensation for training or coaching). Junior horses (5 and younger) may be shown two handed in a bosal or snaffle bit, senior horses (6 and older) must be shown one handed in any AQHA legal shank bit.
Ownership restrictions for Non Pros will not apply as outlined in the AQHA Rulebook.

Has less than 2 years of show experience
Horses of any age may be shown one or two handed in any legal bit. Horses showing in the Green Horse division may not cross enter into Open, Non Pro, or Youth.
