2025 RULES & REGULATIONS

These rules and policies are applicable at all New Brunswick Codiac Reining Association shows for the 2025 season.

  • As a registered affiliate of the National Reining Horse Association, the New Brunswick Codiac Reining Association upholds NRHA’s Animal Welfare Position Statement as follows:

“NRHA promotes and stands by the well being of the mind, body and spirit of the horse at all times. We expect our members to consider the welfare of their horses paramount and to always treat them with dignity, respect and compassion. All interactions and veterinary treatment must ensure the health and welfare of the horse. The highest standards of safety, nutrition, biosecurity and preventative care shall be encouraged at all times.

Training - NRHA fully understands the diversity in training methods of the reining horse. Safety of humans and animals is paramount. NRHA does not accept any form of abuse or mistreatment of horses.
Drugs & Medications - NRHA does not condone the use of any drugs, chemicals or foreign substances to alter their performance. NRHA supports the use of necessary treatments for the health and well-being of the horse, but does not condone the use of performance-altering substances in competition.
Tail Alteration - NRHA does not condone the application or administration of any drug, chemical, foreign substance, surgical procedure, or trauma, which results in or could result in the alteration of normal tail function or carriage.”

NBCRA is committed to a safe and positive environment at our events for all horses, exhibitors, show staff, volunteers, and attendees. Any behaviour that violates this may result in offenders being removed from the showgrounds at the discretion of the Show Committee.

STALL, HOOKUP, & PAID TIME BOOKING

Stalls, hookups, and paid warm ups are offered on a first come, first served basis and must be pre-booked and paid in full upon booking through the NBCRA Facebook page or email.
Stall fee of $125.00/weekend will apply to both 8x8 stalls and 8x12 stalls.
Priority for 8x12 stalls will be given to larger horses wherever possible, to minimize requests for double stalls. Entry forms will have a “Stabling Notes” field where exhibitors can indicate the height of their horse.
Double 8x8s may still be booked for exhibitors who would like to guarantee the additional room, at the price of two stall spaces.
Tack stalls will be assigned to 8x8 spaces.
Please let us know in advance who is in your show group so we can assign stalls to accommodate barns stabling together. Stall and hookup layouts will be posted the week of the show and they will be labelled for your arrival.
We will make all efforts to accommodate individual requests on large stalls and barn assignments, however we cannot guarantee that we will be able to honour every single one.
Stall deposits will not be refunded with the exception of illness or injury to the horse or exhibitor.

Paid warm ups will take place on Friday evening, $20.00 per 5 minute slot. Schedule will be posted on site and on NBCRA’s social media outlets in advance.
Please be ON TIME for your paid warm up - no refunds will be provided for cancelled or missed paid times.

  • The indoor will be open for schooling at all hours where paid warm ups or competition are not actively taking place. During active show hours, the outdoor arena will be available for schooling or warm up.

For the safety of all riders and horses, we request all exhibitors follow standard reining warm up arena etiquette during open arena hours.

    • EYES UP AND BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS.

    • Circles on the hour, rundowns and stops on the half hour.

    • Left circles will be run at the lower end of the arena, closest to the gate. Right circles will be run at the upper end of the arena, furthest from the gate.

    • Move off the rail if you are travelling at a slower speed (walking/jogging) to give right of way to circlers on the outside track.

    • Spin in the centre of the circles that are being run, not on the path of the circle.

    • No stopping, standing, or spinning at the centre of the arena.

    • All riders must leave the arena in a safe and efficient manner when the tractor/drag is ready to enter.

    • No lunging in the indoor arena during open schooling hours. Horses may be lunged in the outdoor pen, in a safe location that does not interfere with other riders.

Priority in the designated warm up area (between the semi and full trailer hookup areas) will be given to exhibitors that are closest to their go in the draw order. Riders warming up in the outdoor pen prior to their class are responsible for paying attention to the draw order and being prepared to move towards the show arena when they are in the hole (2 horses from their go).

Please leave the in-gate area as clear as possible of traffic to allow room for horses coming in and out of the pen.

There will be two 30-minute breaks throughout the show, at which point the show arena will be open for schooling. In the case of inclement weather that poses a safety hazard in the outdoor warm up areas, priority for schooling in these breaks will be given to horses in the next block of classes.

  • The purpose of the New Brunswick Codiac Reining Association’s Media Policy is to ensure that:
    1. Any professional images released from our events positively represent the reining horse industry, and;
    2. Our official photographers are protected from potential loss of revenue due to the distribution of photos from third parties, whether for free or for renumeration.

The New Brunswick Codiac Reining Association is proudly partnered with Emily Totton of The Farmer’s Wife Photography to provide full arena coverage at each event and to give our exhibitors access to purchasing high-quality show photos.

The Farmer’s Wife Photography is exclusively contracted for the NBCRA Summer Series. No other professional photographers are permitted to shoot on the portion of the grounds rented by NBCRA for the duration of the show, unless they have been given approval from the NBCRA show committee. Friends and family members of exhibitors are encouraged to take photos for personal use.

Any questions may be directed to the NBCRA Board of Directors.
